Program: Crisis Response Network (CRN)

Crisis Readiness Network

“Together, we bring hope, relieve suffering, empower resilience, and connect hearts to heal in times of crisis.”

WHO IS CRISIS RESPONSE NETWORK

The Crisis Response Network NPC was born out of a deeply personal journey through crisis and loss during a hostage situation in Yemen, where a loved one was also tragically lost. In that dark season, it became clear how vulnerable individuals are in times of crisis, and that recovery and growth are possible with practical, compassionate support from a caring community.

This experience sparked a vision to see the global body of believers empowered to alleviate suffering and to respond to crises in their own communities with compassion, strategy, and sustainability.

Crisis Response Network was founded in 2019 and is registered as both a non-profit company (2019/590489/08) and Public Benefit Organisation in South Africa.

CRN exists to coordinate a network of global grassroots partners in the humanitarian space to alleviate suffering and foster resilience among people from diverse backgrounds impacted by crisis. This is achieved by supporting local initiatives and empowering communities to thrive beyond crisis.

Why is it important to alleviate suffering?

Suffering is severe distress that affects one’s body, mind and interpersonal relationships with God, oneself and others.  It also decreases a person’s ability to function or contribute as part of a community and it breaks down dignity.

Hunger, poverty, lack of education and health services, safety, shelter, continuous displacement and being exposed to violence and man-made crises can cause or increase suffering.  Nobody is exempt from suffering when a crisis cuts into a life or community.

Our approach to these crises are unique:

CRN is not the first responders during times of crisis, but we strengthen the response and restoration efforts of established global grassroots to their communities in need.  These locally driven interventions are timely, cost efficient, and have longevity while supporting the local economy. Community dignity and worth is restored through activation of indigenous knowledge and suffering is reduced; hope is reignited. The negative hold of suffering is broken.

Where is CRN Working?

In the most inaccessible regions of the world, where the least of these, the unreached, live. Our partners are the body of Christ who live in these hostile regions and make it possible to bring restoration to communities in Afghanistan, Syria, Gaza and the West Bank, Ukraine and Myanmar, in Uganda with the South Sudanese refugees, Northern Mozambique with the internally displaced and in South Africa. Projects vary from funding education opportunities to children in refugee camps, agricultural and entrepreneurial projects, water and sanitation, trauma counseling, food aid and basic medical care.
